As there currently isn’t a recognized law for private entities in the US, it’s impossible to have a government sponsored certification. What you should look for in a certification company is 1) reputability, 2) expertise & specialization, and 3) genuine adherence to standards.

Number 3 means that digital offerings (websites, apps, documents, software, etc.) are actually being vetted for accessibility and not simply receiving a rubber stamp because they paid a fee.

There are no exams.

A certification from a reputable agency will be highly persuasive in a motion to dismiss or in court.
