To your points:

• True but Section 508 is for federal departments and agencies, not private entities. Section 504 could implicate some private entities but the vast majority are not covered under the Rehabilitation Act.
• Labeling my bullet point checklist as standards was a misnomer. My WCAG distillation with suggested improvements rolled-in did not amount to standards and I have revised this article and others to reflect the correction.
• I appreciate the gesture. I consume a ton of the community’s content. The criticism I received for dubbing my document as standards was valid. As you commented, I simply re-wrote the core WCAG standards.
