2026: New AI Features for Digital Accessibility Projects Are Mildly Shocking
The other day ChatGPT created an outline of three of my 25+ slide PowerPoint presentations in 15 seconds.
That would have taken me 25–35 minutes in 2022.
I actually did momentarily note the amazingness in my head, but then it was on to the next to-do item.
This is why I had to write “mildly shocking” in the title. We’ve grown accustomed to extreme time and money savings now.
You’ll know the stuff I’m about to list off is game changing, but you’ll ironically also be unimpressed.
Here’s what’s new in digital accessibility for 2026.
Issue-Level AI Tools
Some platforms now attach AI tools directly to individual audit issues.
Developers can simplify technical WCAG language, get specific code fixes, explore alternative approaches, or ask custom questions without switching context or writing prompts.
The AI already knows the issue details so the intelligent guidance is right inside the dashboard.
AI Progress Reports
AI can generate compliance documentation on demand — executive summaries, WCAG conformance assessments, priority matrices, risk analysis, and implementation roadmaps.
What used to take hours of time compiling and distilling data is now a button push away.
Portfolio Insights
For organizations managing multiple properties, AI can analyze patterns across an entire accessibility program. Which success criteria fail most often? Where should training focus? How should resources be allocated?
These questions get answers based on actual audit and real-time progress data.
Project Analysis
AI can provide timeline projections, resource recommendations, and strategic guidance for individual projects based on current issue status and historical progress.
AI Scans
Automated scans have been around for years, but AI is making them more intelligent. They’re now better at reducing false positives and providing more useful remediation guidance. Scans are still extremely limited, but the value proposition is definitely better.
AI VPATs
Filling in a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) manually takes hours — transferring audit results, evaluating each criterion, writing remarks and explanations.
AI can now automate the tedious parts, generating a draft VPAT in seconds based on your audit status at any point in time. You still review and correct manually, but the bulk work is taken care of.

Our AI VPAT feature inside of Accessibility Tracker lets you provide information about your product — by answering questions, uploading documentation, or describing functionality — and generates a draft VPAT.
You still need to start with an audit report. And an expert review of the auto-generated VPAT is still needed, but if you’d like to automate filling in the WCAG edition of the VPAT, you can do so starting on December 5.
Final Thoughts
Can you imagine how floored you would be if you were isolated on a tropical island for the last 3 years and just got back?
The productivity enabled by artificial intelligence would be stunning.
It’s definitely worthy of note.
